The loss of Quiera Lampkins loomed large in my mind as the Ohio Bobcats played host to defending MAC tournament champions, the Toledo Rockets. This was a huge test against a stingy defense to see how the Bobcats would handle the departure of the second leading scorer in the conference.

They passed the test. The two teams played close for the first half, with the Bobcats holding a three point edge. They exploded in the third quarter, led in large part by the hot shooting Dominique Doseck, who finished the game 9-12 from the floor and 5-7 from beyond the arch for a career high 27 points.

Mikaela Boyd led the Rockets with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Kaayla McIntyre added 18 on 5 of 6 shooting.

The two teams tied in rebounding at 37, while the Bobcats shot 42% from the floor, in large part because of the monster performance by Doseck. The Rockets were cold, only hitting 28% of their shots.

The Bobcats move to 7-5 on the season and 1-0 in the MAC. Their head to Mt. Pleasant to take on the formidable Central Michigan Chippewas next.

The Rockets will try and lick their wounds at home against Akron. If they are thirsting for revenge, they wont have to wait long, as the two teams are set to meet again on January 10th.
