The Buffalo Bulls used aggressive defense, hot shooting, and the great all around play of Stephanie Reid overwhelm the home team Akron Zips. The final score was 89-66, but the game was decided with a 23-7 first quarter.
Relentless Buffalo pressure caused 20 Akron turnovers that the Bulls effectively turned into points. Buffalo hit 8 of 14 shots from beyond the arch, and Stephanie Reid logged 11 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.
The Bulls continued to show they are one of the deepest teams in the league, as Autumn Jones came off the bench to score 18. Cassie Oursler also had 18 for the Bulls.
The Zips were led by Megan Sefcik’s 14 and they got 10 off the bench from Caitlin Vari.
Akron was 7-23 from three and 19-23 from the line, but the defense was a big reason they only managed 20 of 58 for a 34 percent conversion rate on the floor.
This was both teams conference opener, and the Bulls moved to 10-2 on the season overall. They head home for the first time in nearly a month and take on the 8-5 Western Michigan Broncos.
Akron drops to 6-6 on the season heads to Toledo to take on the 9-4 Rockets.
This win was the 100th for Felisha Legette-Jack as the head coach of the Bulls.
