2017 MAC Women’s Basketball: Ohio Bobcats vs. Central Michigan Chippewas

Tinara Moore led the Chippewas with 18 points and six rebounds as Central Michigan snaps their two game losing streak, defeating the East-leading Bobcats of Ohio, 64-59.

Four different Chippewas scored in double figures, as Central Michigan defeated the MAC East Division leading Ohio Bobcats, 64-59 on Wednesday night in Mount Pleasant. The Chippewas move to 15-6 (7-2 MAC) and Ohio falls to 16-5 (7-3 MAC).

Presley Hudson scored 13 points, Reyna Frost scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Cassie Breen scored 10 points to go along with Moore’s 18 to lead the Chippewas to victory. Frost currently sits tied for 5th in rebounds per game in the nation.

Quiera Lampkins led the all scorers with 24 points, and grabbed six rebounds while dishing out five assists on the night for the Bobcats. Taylor Agler added 11 points and Hannah Boesinger scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Kelly Karlis grabbed 12 rebounds for the Bobcats as well.

Central Michigan trailed at halftime, 29-24. The Chippewas came out of the gates strong and tied the game at 32 with 6:45 left in the third on two threes from Hudson and a layup from Frost. Central Michigan grabbed the lead with 2:43 left in the third and was able to lead throughout the rest of the game.

The Bobcats shot 36.5% from the field, connecting on 23 of 63 shot attempts, and 29.6% from beyond the arc, 8 of 27. Ohio didn’t take many free throws, but made 5 of their 9 free throws, for a 55.6% clip. Despite out rebounding the Chippewas, 42-35, the Bobcats couldn’t score enough to get past the Chippewas.

The Chippewas shot 37.3% from the field, making 22 of 59 attempts, and 21.1% from beyond the arc, just 4 for 19. A strong 16 of 16 from the free throw line contributed to the victory as the Chips made their free throws all game long.

The Chippewas will look to build off this victory, as they travel to Ypsilanti to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN3.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back home, as they return to Athens to host the Toledo Rockets. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN3.
