2016-17 MAC Men’s Basketball Live Thread: February 18

Spend your Saturday with some #MACsketball.

After last night’s scintillating game between the Akron Zips and the Kent State Golden Flashes, we still five more fixings of #MACtion today starting at 2 p.m. when the Bowling Green Falcons make the trip to Athens to take on the Ohio Bobcats. Ohio has a golden opportunity to put more pressure on Akron, but the Falcons have lost a number of close games this season so this has the makings of a very good contest.

The Miami RedHawks hit the road to square off against the Buffalo Bulls at 3:30 p.m. in a rematch of a game earlier this season where Miami took down the Bulls late in Oxford. The ‘Hawks have yet to win a road MAC game and UB has been playing good basketball as of late, which means that anything is possible when these two teams meet today.

The MAC West takes up the rest of the slate today with the Northern Illinois Huskies hosting the Toledo Rockets at 3:30 p.m., the Eastern Michigan Eagles taking on the Western Michigan Broncos in Kalamazoo at 4 p.m., and the Ball State Cardinals packing their bags for a skirmish with the Central Michigan Chippewas at 4:30 p.m.

NIU is one of the dark horses in this league, as it is capable of knocking off the best teams in the MAC, but it’ll be challenged today with a talented Rockets squad. EMU used to be one of the hotter teams in the league, but its recent struggles make this game a lot more interesting than it looks on paper. Our nightcap tonight is a huge match-up, as both BSU and CMU still have hopes of a West division crown despite both teams’ head-scratching losses this season.

With all that in mind, let’s hop down in the comments below and shoot the breeze about this great #MACsketball slate today.
