The Mid-American Conference has released the official times, dates and TV blocks for the 2017 football season, and it features a lot of interesting late-season match-ups that could have divisional hopes on the line.
Perhaps the most interesting thing that pops out immediately is that after October, there are zero (yes, zero) weekend games for MAC teams, ensuring the conference teams fight for their respective titles on weeknight national TV.
A few other interesting notes emerge as you look through the list:
- The Battle for the Victory Cannon between CMU and WMU moves back to November this year after being played in October in 2016.
- Miami at CMU and Ohio at EMU will kick off the conference slate on Sat., Sept. 23, so no Week 1 or 2 #MACtion this season.
- NIU, Toledo and WMU will all play on Black Friday this season. Toledo and WMU will face off on Black Friday for the third year in a row, while NIU will play for the second year in a row after facing Kent State last season.
- There are no neutral site conference games this season. Last year, NIU and Toledo played a conference in Chicago.
- All but one conference game (Buffalo vs. Akron on Sat., Oct. 28) will be nationally-televised one of ESPN’s various networks or on CBS Sports Network.
Time and television is yet to be determined for the 2017 MAC Championship Game in Detroit.
