The Akron football team locked up a big time verbal pledge on Friday evening. Kicking off the weekend in style, the Zips landed a commitment from 2018 running back Keyondre White.
Thanking his family, coaches, and god, White announced his commitment to the Zips via his Twitter page just days after receiving his offer from Terry Bowden, and the rest of the Akron coaching staff:

A three-star rated prospect, the 5’10 210-pound standout chose Akron over a solid list of reported scholarship offers. Before his commitment on Friday, White held verbal offers from programs such as Illinois, Louisville, Syracuse, and Florida Atlantic University.
“Akron has had some great history to their football program and the university itself. The University had some great notable alumni that came through there and walked the halls. The football program itself pushed some great players into the league and later after their careers they went on to be successful.” White stated to Hustle Belt as a few of the reasons why his decision to attend Akron was an easy one.
“It all came down to my chances coming and seeing the field after I talked about my major. I broke all this down with Coach Eric Hickson. Once I told him I would like to become a Zip they were very ecstatic about my decision to commit to their school.” He added on his decision to join the Zips.
A physical running back that doesn’t shy away from contact, White, who rushed for over 600 yards as a junior last season at Chaminade-Madonna College Prep School in Hollywood, Florida, is currently considered the 47th running back, and 768th overall prospect in the class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
