The Toledo Rockets announced that their head women’s basketball coach, Tricia Cullop, signed a contract extension through the 2024-25 season. Per the article, which you can read here, her teams were getting it done both on the court, and in the classroom.
Along with a load of individual academic achievements, her teams have posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher in 16 out of 17 semesters.
On the court, the Rockets have won 22.4 games per season, and secured 4 MAC West titles, and 2 MAC regular season championships. 6 out of her 9 seasons, the Rockets have made the post season. Last season, the Rockets won the MAC tournament for the first time under Cullop and went to the NCAA tournament.
A strong core returns for this season.
Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott returns for her senior campaign. The captain was third team All-MAC last season, and Academic All-MAC. The 5-10 guard has averaged in double digits in each of her three years, and finished last season at 11.5 points, and 4.2 rebounds per contest.
Another fantastic player, Mikaela Boyd, also returns. Her 12.2 points and 7.9 rebounds led the team. Her 137 assists were good enough for second place on the squad, with only to All-MAC Freshman team member Mariella Santucci having more with 156. Also returning is Kaayla McIntyre, who averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds.
With 6 of the 7 leading scorers off of last years team returning, and a coach with the credentials of Tricia Cullop, the future looks bright in Toledo.
