In a bit of shocking news, reports started pouring in that Marin Maric is headed to DePaul as a graduate transfer.
Northern Illinois big man Marin Maric has pulled out of the Draft and will head to Depaul. Impact big man for the Blue Demons— Eric Bossi (@ebosshoops) May 8, 2017
Eric Bossi was the first to make the call on twitter.
The 6’11, 250 pound Maric played well enough last year at Northern Illinois to be named to the third team All-MAC team.
He averaged 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds on the season, but his play really picked up as the year went on, finishing with 6 straight double doubles. In his last game as a Huskie, he scored 24 and grabbed 16 rebounds in a loss to Eastern Michigan in the MAC tournament.
The Blue Demons return 3 of their 5 leading scorers, and Maric should be a good compliment inside.
All the of talent that the MAC had in the paint last season should help Maric in his adjustment to the Big East, and their style of play.
According to this article from fellow SB nation site Big East Coast Bias, he will be eligible immediately.
