Is there a more diverse career arc than Neil Patrick Harris’? Starts out as wonder-kid Doogie Howser, currently a broadway star. Sprinkled between are stints as a drug ingesting cameo on Harold & Kumar and everyone’s favorite suit-wearing bro Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother. I would say other than Daniel Radcliffe, who transitioned from magic wands to nude scenes with horses, no one has had a wider array of roles and successes than good old NPH. Throw in the Heineken pitch man duties, and I would argue he’s probably the one Hollywood type I wouldn’t mind having a beer with and shooting the breeze.
So, in honor of NPH’s 44th birthday today, we bring you the Hustle Belt Daily Dump with all the news and notes you need for your Thursday. Feel free to suit up and make it legen..... wait for it..... dary. On to the news and notes....
Ball State at #74 in Orlando Sentinel Countdown | Orlando Sentinel
Each season the Orlando Sentinel counts down their preseason rankings and it’s usually one of the better ones to check if you’re looking for a macro view of the MAC. Considering it’s not in the conference footprint and more than a few national entities simply mail it in with the G5 schools, it’s worth a read.
Chip Named Honorable Mention Softball All-American | CMUChippewas
Rachael Knapp adds some hardware to her mantle as the Chip is named Honorable Mention All-American for softball. Only 35 pitchers made any of the teams, so it’s a great honor for Knapp, CMU, and the MAC.
Louisville NCAA Ruling at 11AM | Card Chronicle
In what will likely be the new litmus test to see how serious the NCAA takes infractions with new leadership, Louisville learns its fate for Strippergate (among other things). The details are salacious which makes it more attention grabbing, but there’s a championship banner at stake and Pitino’s legacy. Card Chronicle was right in its “Hold onto your butts” assessment.
How the Lakers Are Navigating the Lonzo Ball Minefield | SBNation
The NBA draft is right around the corner and one of the (if not THE) most intriguing storylines is whether the Lakers select Lonzo Ball. There are plenty of reasons to as well as plenty of reasons not, not the least of which is the epitome of over involved sports parent, Lamar “Stay in yo’ lane, girl” Ball. The Lakers are handling it all about as well as you could given that dude.
10 Things to Watch For at the US Open | SBNation
Other than long drives, complaints about the course length, and apparently gigantic mosquitos, here’s what you need to know for the next PGA tour major that starts today.
