Ball State, Toledo, Western Michigan earn ITA All-Academic Honors in men’s tennis

It’s a two-fer in men’s and women’s honors for the three

It’s apparently tennis day here at the Belt as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced their annual awards for academic excellence and a number of Mid-American Conference squads and individual players were recognized for their performance in the classroom. We first told you about two Toledo Rockets who earned scholar-athlete awards on the women’s side, then the women’s teams who earned ITA All-Academic Honors as a team. Now we’re on to the men.

The Ball State Cardinals, Toledo Rockets, and Western Michigan Broncos mens’ squads were honored by the ITA for their academic performance. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).

For all the men’s squads earning this award, you may notice that their women’s team also earned the accolade. It speaks volumes to the institutional support of academics as well as the recruiting approach of the staffs and respective administration to focus on a holistic student-athlete and not simply a good on-court performer.
