As we finish up July, I am going to be putting up a quick fact sheet and schedule for each team in our beloved Mid-American conference. Bookmark it and use it as a cheat sheet for the season, I know I will.

Northern Illinois is coming off their first losing season since 2008. They finished the season by winning 4 of their last 5 and Jordan Lynch joined the coaching staff, giving Husky fans reason to be optimistic for 2017.

  • Key Returnees:

Jordan Huff, Sr., RB: Huff ran for 703 yards at 6.3 YPC in 2016. Gained 173 on 23 carries in overtime win against EMU.

Max Scharping, Jr., OL: Moves to left tackle for 2017. First Team All-MAC in 2016.

Shawun Lurry, Sr., CB: Second Team All-MAC in 2016. 12 career interceptions. Named to 2017 Thorpe and Nagurski watch lists.


News and Notes

  • The starting quarterback still hasn’t been named for 2017. Currently, Daniel Santacaterina and Ryan Graham are battling for the job.
  • Another bad season will likely bring the low rumble about coach Carey to a roar. After winning a combined 23 games his first two years, he is now feeling the pressure of that success, having only won a combined 13 the last two.
