How to watch Boston College @ NIU: Game time, TV, live stream, and more

Will 2017 be the return to glory for the NIU Huskies? Here’s how you can see it

Give credit to the Boston College Eagles for heading on the road to start their season against an opponent that at one time was the class of the G5 squads. For the Northern Illinois Huskies, they are hoping a win on Friday night in Dekalb will springboard them back into their rightful position at the top of the heap in the Mid-American Conference and beyond.

And that cannot come soon enough for Rod Carey and the NIU Huskies fans, all of whom seemed to grow a bit restless in the 2016 campaign as the Huskies limped along to a 5-7 finish, their worst record since a 2-10 2007. That’s a decade of winning football, bowls, and being the team to beat in the conference. So their frustration and expectations are understandable.

Friday night's season opener is the third meeting overall between NIU and Boston College and the second meeting in three years between the teams. The Eagles won the previous two meetings in a series that dates back to Nov. 13, 1971, a 20-10 victory by BC. NIU suffered a 17-14 setback to the Eagles in Chestnut Hill Sept. 26, 2015. This is Boston College's first visit to DeKalb.
