Kent State Golden Flashes at Louisville Cardinals: How to watch, game time, stream, open thread

Louisville has had a tough week. Do they take it out on the Flashes?

So let’s be clear, it hasn’t been a tremendous year for the Kent State Golden Flashes. At 1-2, with their sole victory being a win over FCS Howard, it’s not been one of those inspire confidence type front 25% of the season. This season started with Paul Haynes taking a medical leave of absence for undisclosed reasons and it has gotten progressively worse from there.

After a blowout loss to the Clemson Tigers and a shutout loss to the Marshall Thundering Herd last week, the Flashes close out their out of conference slate with a road date against the Louisville Cardinals. Yes, those Louisville Cardinals who got embarrassed last week with a poor showing against Clemson, a poor crowd for Gameday, and a general confirmation that despite their best efforts to narrate otherwise, they are still a basketball school.

Sure, they have the defending Hesiman Trophy winner in Lamar Jackson, who will most certainly give Kent State fits for the afternoon. Sure, Louisville’s head coach Bobby Petrino has been known to run up the score when it benefits the Cardinals. Sure, Nick Holley of Kent State, the starting QB mind you, is now on the shelf for the year with a season-ending injury. Oh, and the experts in Vegas put the spread at 44, one of the highest you’ll see.

All that just means it’s a great opportunity for Kent State to play with reckless abandon and no regrets. Louisville noon crowds are notorious for being low-energy and made up somewhat of empty seats, so the environment compared to Clemson a few weeks ago will be tepid at best. All that adds up to a one in a million chance, but WE’RE SAYING THERE’S A CHANCE!
