Road games against P5 opponents have not done teams in the Mid-American Conference well. For the Eastern Michigan Eagles, Saturday presents a tremendous opportunity to get a marquee upset against B1G squad the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Last week saw 2017 start off with a win for EMU over Charlotte, and in true Chris Creighton style it was a workman-like performance devoid of show or flash but long on substance and results. A win today over Rutgers would put EMU on a different plane and begin to open the conversation about how far this team can go.

For EMU, it’s a chance to get national attention for a program that is desperate for it. Good things are happening in Ypsilanti and this may very well be the next chapter in the resurgence of EMU football.
