The Eastern Michigan Eagles played a game Monday in Piscataway against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. And if you’re a fan of the Eagles, it was not a very pretty result, to say the least. Poor shooting led to Eastern trailing at the half, 31-4, and they could never overcome that ugly deficit, falling 63-36.
Toure Boubacar led Eastern Michigan with 7 points. The team scored a combined total of 36 points, and 32 of those came in the second half. In what will be an unforgettably bad first half, the Eagles were 2-for-25 in field goal shooting and 0-of-7 from the charity stripe. They also missed all five of their three pointers in the first half, allowing Rutgers to claim a 27-point lead going into the break. The second half offensive improvement was not nearly enough to make the score respectable.
Geo Baker led Rutgers with 20 points. The Scarlet Knights’ shooting was a more respectable 42.9% throughout the game.
Rutgers would win the game, 63-36. Eastern Michigan looks to rebound when it hosts Detroit-Mercy at the Convocation Center on Friday.
