Softball season opened on Thursday and the MAC already scored it’s first win against a ranked opponent. To be more accurate, the Western Michigan Broncos knocked off the 19th ranked BYU Cougars. Pitcher Jordan Kurth struck out 10 and pitched a complete game. The only Cougars run was unearned in the 6th.
A two out single by freshman Samantha Coffel in the top of the 5th brought in the Broncos’ only two runs of the game, but it was enough.
Sadly, the Broncos couldn’t keep up the momentum as they fell to the Tennessee Volunteers today. The Broncos take on San Diego State tonight. All the games are part of the Kajikawa Classic.
