How to watch the NCAA Tournament Selection Show

Mere hours away from seeing who is about to get introduced to MACtion

NCAA Basketball: Final Four Preview David Wallace-USA TODAY Sports

If you’re a basketball fan, today is your Christmas. Tonight the field is set and announced for the NCAA Tournament and presented to all of us, this year on a new network and a new format. Gone are the days of CBS and the bracket unfurling little by little. This year, TBS has the call and the entire field is announced at the top of the show. From there, the brackets are unveiled and the matchups are discussed.

It’s certainly a different type of show and to be completely honest, I’m not sure that it’s an improvement. But I’ll watch, as will you, and we will be glad that we are just four days away from basically wall to wall basketball through the weekend.

For the fans of MACtion, there is little drama about who’s in. The Buffalo Bulls will be the only Mid-American Conference squad in the field of the NCAA Tournament, so we are all awaiting where they will land, where they are seeded, and who they will be facing. Frankly, with the new metrics and the several surprising conference champions, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bulls are as high as a nine seed. Regardless of where they end up, they are a tough out and for the next few weeks at least, we are all Bulls fans (or should be).

Some other storylines to keep your eye on is the soft bubble this year and whether or not “name” teams make it in over midmajors that are far more deserving. I think we all know how that story ends, though.
