It’s the day you’ve been waiting for. Well, since Sunday evening, at least. This evening in Boise at the Taco Bell Arena, the Buffalo Bulls will try to dispatch the Arizona Wildcats like $100,000 of chalupas would dispatch your colon. On paper, it’s not much of a contest. The Pac-12 champion, likely first pick in the upcoming NBA Draft with Deandre Ayton, and a cross-country jaunt for the Bulls all seems to point to Zona. But the funny things about these games is that they aren’t played on paper. That would be dangerous and not practical, so they are played on hardwood courts. You’re welcome.
How many times has the oft-forgotten upstart come out and played with nothing to lose and no pressure and upsets the higher seed? Often. And it’s relevant because that’s exactly the spot that Buffalo finds themselves in tonight. Make no mistake, the Bulls aren’t some ragtag bunch with patchwork uniforms and out of date sneakers that rolled into town in a bus that barely made it. The Bulls are a significant threat and are capable of making it out of the first weekend, even with an absolutely killer roadmap. If it were me, I’d probably watch tonight.
