Even though the NCAA has a nice little tournament to finish the regular season, they still go ahead and poll the coaches once the dust has settled. This is a nice way to finish the season as it allows teams to add feathers to their cap, even if they didn’t win the whole darn thing. In this particular case, two MAC women’s teams get to add that feather.
Per the USA Today website, both Buffalo and Central Michigan finished the season ranked. The Bulls finished 21st while the Chippewas finished in the top 20, at 20. This is a reason to celebrate. The season is over, so there is no real need to complain too loudly that teams that these schools beat were ranked ahead of them.
The Buffalo men pulled off a big upset, too, and while that wasn’t enough to earn them a final ranking, they did receive 8 votes in the final men’s poll.
