Ohio Bobcats Play Well Before Falling To Host Tennessee in NCAA Softball Regional

Errors prove costly, end 2018 season

In the Knoxville Regional of the 2018 NCAA Softball Tournament, the Ohio Bobcats started off slow, dropping the first game 2-1 to James Madison. The Dukes have made 5 NCAA Tournaments in a row, advancing to the Supers in 2016. However, the 10 seed Tennessee Volunteers, the host, skunked the Dukes 9-0 this year, before demolishing Mounmouth.

The Bobcats knocked off James Madison and Monmouth to knock off both teams. Up next was the formidable host Volunteers.

Things looked good early, as the Bobcats took a 1 run lead, however the upset was not meant to be. Danielle Stiene pitched a good game and only gave up one earned run, like her Tennessee counterpart. Sadly a few mistakes cost the Bobcats and they were sent packing with a 5-1 loss. No non-power conference school advanced passed this season’s regionals.
