Today kicks off the college football schedule for the 125 other FBS programs who didn’t play in the (low-key insane) Week 0, so suffice to say the hype cannot be contained in the college football world.
Your timeline is probably flooded with tons of videos, both team and fan-produced, adding to the electric sort of excitement which frew sports can produce in their fandoms. Well, I think we may have just found the best (and most ridiculous in a good way) hype video of them all, and it comes courtesy of our very own Mid-American Conference.
If you recall, the MAC announced the creation of the #FlyTheFlag campaign at this year’s MAC Media Day, wherein every school would fly a modified Jolly Roger on a flagpole if it managed to notch a win over a Power Five team. The idea was commissioner Jon Steinbrecher’s very own, as he was known to send coaches a JPEG of the Jolly Roger after big victories.
Last month, we light-heartedly joked about the Legend of the Flown Flag, and we’re thinking maybe Dr. Steinbrecher read it and took it to heart, because lo and behold... he’s ready to sail the seven seas.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to sail through hell and high water for (Dr. Commisioner) “Long” Jon Steinbrecher.
