Akron Zips Clip the Eastern Michigan Eagles

Late effort by Eagles falls short

The hot shooting from the past two games cools off for Eastern Michigan as they fall to the Akron Zips in Akron tonight. The Zips go to 2 and 2 in the MAC after beating the Eagles by a score of 51 to 49.

Eastern Michigan was lead by Paul Jackson and Boubacar Toure with 15 points each. Boubacar Toure made his presence around the basket noticed by also picked up 10 rebounds. Paul Jackson was also able to get 4 steals. They only shot 44% from the field and 20% from three point land. They were 2 for 5 from the charity stripe.

Akron didn’t look much better as they were only 42% from the field but were 30% from the field. They were led in scoring by Daniel Utomi and Jimond Ivey with 12 points each.

Eastern Michigan had a brief lead towards the end of the game but they lost a couple of minutes later. They managed to hang for the whole game though. This loss continued a long losing streak at Rhodes Arena.

The Eagles fall to 8-9 (2-2 in the MAC) and travel to Buffalo where they will face the Bulls in a rematch. The Zips improve to 10-7 and travel to Oxford, Ohio where they will face the Bobcats.
