If I told you that all five of Eastern Michigan’s starters scored in the double digits, you would assume that the Eagles would have come out on top. Well, you would have assumed wrong. The Falcons made their trek up US-23 to Ypsilanti and downed the Eagles by a score of 80-67.
The Eagles started out strong and found themselves leading 8 to 4 a little more than three minutes into the game. Within four minutes, they would find themselves trailing the Falcons 12 to 10. After the point, the Eagles would never regain the lead. At halftime, they found themselves trailing Bowling Green by 9 points.
After returning to the court for the second half, the Eagles managed to cut that lead down to five at the 16:37 mark but then the Falcons started to pull away. The Eagles could never quite come close again.
Bowling Green was led in scoring by Justin Turner with 19 points. Overall, the Falcons were shooting at 48.3% from the field and 47.4% from three point range. They had a respectable 72.2% at the free thrown line.
The Eagles leading score was James Thompson IV with 16 points. He also had 12 rebounds to get another double-double. The Eagles were 42.3% from the field and only made a third of their three point attempts.
With this win, Bowling Green climbs to a 14 and 5 record. The are undefeated in the MAC at 6 and 0. With the Buffalo loss, Bowling Green finds themselves on top of the MAC. The Falcons travel to face the Miami Redhawks on Saturday. The Eagles fall to an 8-11 record and are 2 and 4 in the MAC. The Eagles head west on I-94 to face the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday.
