After beating the Broncos by a score of 93-67 in Kalamazoo, the Eagles continued up US-127 to face the Chippewas in Mt. Pleasant last night. The Chippewas almost 93% free throw shooting (among other things) proved to be too much for the Eagles to handle as they fall 86-82 against their other intrastate rivals.
The Chippewas were led in scoring by David DiLeo with 20 points. Kevin McKay posted a double-double after getting 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Chippewas had 44.6% shooting from the field but were 92.9% from the free throw line. In the end, that proved to be the difference in the game.
The Eagles were led in shooting by Paul Jackson with 21 points. Kevin McAdoo posted a season high tally of 20 points. Boubacar Toure would get a double-double after scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (hmmm, familiar?). The Eagles were pretty good from the field with a 59.6% field goal percentage but not so good from the free throw line with a 61.5% free throw percentage. That seems to be an item that has plagued them for as long as I’ve followed them.
Eastern Michigan (9-12 overall and 3-5 in the MAC) returns to the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti where they will face the Miami RedHawks on Saturday at Noon. Central Michigan (15-6 Overall and 4-4 in the MAC) remains at home where they will face Western Michigan at 4:30 P.M. on Saturday.
