MAC women’s basketball has been on quite a roll this preseason, as they have racked up their 4th athlete on a major postseason award watch list. This time Buffalo Bull Summer Hemphill was named to the Katrina McClain Award watch list, given to the nation’s top power forward.

The 6’1 Buffalo native really came into her own in her junior campaign, averaging a double double, with 14.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest. In the MAC title game against Ohio, she scored 16 points and grabbed 21 rebounds, while in the first round NCAA tournament win, she scored 23 against Rutgers. A gritty player who does a lot of things well, she reminds me a lot of last season’s MAC POTY, Reyna Frost. I expect her to shoulder a little more of the load this year, potentially putting up even gaudier numbers.
