EMU manages to outlast WMU in familiar territory, but it was a close one at the end.

For as long as I’ve followed this team, it seems like there has been one knock that I have had that has been consistent. It always seems like Eastern Michigan has always fallen short in the free throw game. They had several opportunities to put the Broncos away in regulation time but their free throws would clang off the rim.

This time around, however, the Eagles managed to hold on for a win, taking victory from the hapless Broncos by a final score of 77-76 in overtime.

Eastern Michigan’s Paul Jackson would lead all scorers with 20 points, heating up late in the game. James Thompson IV was a pretty close second with 17 points. Combined with his 11 rebounds, he would register a double-double.

Western Michigan was lead in scoring by Seth Dugan with 15 points. He and Josh Davis had double-doubles as Josh Davis had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Dugan would get 10 rebounds.

Western Michigan outrebounded the Eagles but the Eagles hot shooting from the field was the difference. The 42% from the free throw line nearly killed the Eagles. Especially near the finish of the game.

Eastern Michigan (13-14 overall and 7-7 in the MAC) remains in Ypsilanti to face the Chippewas of Central Michigan on Tuesday. The Broncos (8-19 overall and 2-12 in the MAC) will travel on to DeKalb, Illinois where they will face the Huskies on Tuesday.

Anyway, pictures...
