Updated MAC Women’s Basketball Tournament Bracket

There are plenty of interesting stories going into Wonderful Wednesday

NCAA Womens Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Spokane Regional James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

We are on the eve of one of my favorite sports day of the year. Wonderful Wednesday, a phrase I just coined, is the second round of the MAC women’s basketball tournament. It is the first day in Cleveland, and always host to exciting basketball contests. This season, there is plenty on the line, as multiple teams are vying for a coveted NCAA tournament bid. Most experts are predicting at least 2 bids, while this one is fairly confident in three, depending on what happens tomorrow.

Here is the bracket, thanks to our favorite conference’s twitter account.

The Chippewas are almost certainly getting an invite to the NCAA tournament, which is a good thing, because they face Eastern Michigan. The Eagles are not an easy out, and a loss by Central Michigan would not be catastrophic. Kent is secretly having a great season and face Buffalo. A loss here by the Bulls could be a deal breaker for the NCAA tournament. Ohio also has a serious chance at an at large bid, and would likely need to win against Northern Illinois. The last match-up of the day pits a tough Toledo squad against Miami. Miami would likely need to win the championship, though a win against Toledo and then Ohio and a close game against Buffalo or Toledo could give them just enough for an invite.

If the favorites all win, it would be great for the conference. Since this is the MAC, there is almost zero chance that will happen, which is great for college basketball fans.
