Central Michigan 14, Northern Illinois 10
The Chippewas (19-7, 5-1 MAC) earned their fifth straight win and a series sweep over the Huskies (7-20, 3-3 MAC) in a game where they exploded for a ten-run sixth inning. The batting order for CMU got on base in the inning as two runs were walked in as Zach Heeke and Zavier Warren delivered two-RBI hits each. NIU had a late rally in the ninth inning as Josh Mutter registered a three-RBI double to close the deficit to four runs, but a groundout ended the Huskies’ comeback bid. The Chips hit the road to take on Notre Dame on Tuesday while NIU hosts Milwaukee Wednesday.
Miami 13, Eastern Michigan 3
Picking up their 20th win of the season were the RedHawks (20-5, 4-1 MAC) and they did so in convincing fashion as they closed the game with a five-run eighth inning over the Eagles (5-21-1, 0-5 MAC). Miami matched its best 25-game start to a season as Cal Evers and Kyle Winker led the offense with seven hits between them. Christian Tejada also scored four times off of two walks and a hit, while the Red and White’s pitching was effective with two earned runs and nine strikeouts.
Ohio 12, Bowling Green 2
It was all Bobcats (5-17, 1-2 MAC) from start to finish as Rudy Rott and Tanner Piechnick each had home runs in the first inning and never let up in the win over the Falcons (9-13, 4-1 MAC). Trevor Lukkes and Trevor Hafner led the way with three hits and three runs scored each as the former also had a pair of RBIs and a walk. OU’s pitching staff contained BG’s offense to the tune of two earned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts to three walks. The weekend series is at 1-1 heading into Sunday’s game.
