The Cleveland Browns signed former Ohio Bobcat A.J. Ouellette. After being signed to as an undrafted rookie to the New Orleans Saints, he now continues his career in the heartland of the MAC.
Even though I root for the Browns, I am not the world's biggest expert on their roster moves, but I was curious on his chances of making the roster, so I decided to ask the most informative Browns fan I know, former Hustle Belt alum Brad Ward.
The Browns added Ouellette because they have a number of inactive running backs currently. Any time a team goes a couple days with players missing time at the position you are often likely to see some roster shuffling. Duke Johnson missed Saturday’s practice with a hamstring injury and the team has not activated Kareem Hunt or Trayone Gray from the non-football injury list so far in training camp.
His chances to make this roster are slim to none as the Browns have one of the better running back rooms in the league, it is interesting that he spent some time with the Saints earlier this offseason though.
So you are saying there is a chance!
The NFL is a small town. Word gets around quick. The fact that the Browns needed a running back and chose Ouellette means that they heard good things about him from the Saints. Even though he is unlikely to be on an opening day roster, as injuries pile up at one of the toughest positions in the league, look for him to stick somewhere.
