How to Watch/Stream/Listen: Bowling Green Falcons at Toledo Rockets

The Battle of I-75 gets the primetime treatment, a year removed from one of the rivalry’s biggest upsets.

It’s the most competitive rivalry in the MAC by all-time record, and it gets the primetime treatment tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. With the all-time record standing at 40-40-4 thanks to Bowling Green evening the series last year, tonight’s winner can pull ahead and take away bragging rights in Week 1 of the season.

BGSU comes to the table in the middle of a rebuild under second-year coach Scot Loeffler. They showed flashes of brilliance in 2019, including the win in last year’s game as a 21-point dog, but also showed the signs of a young team in transition, giving up 30+ points in nine games. They do return NFL prospects on offense in RB Andrew Clair and TE Quintin Morris, the latter of whch has received Senior Bowl watch considerations.

Toledo limped home at the tail end of last season with a rash of injury, missing the postseason for the first time in six years in 2019. They return in 2020 with a fully healthy roster, and feature one of the MAC’s best running backs in Bryant Koback, a former Kentucky transfer. They also have completely shaken up the defensive side of the team, bringing in Division III coaching legend Vince Kenres, who coached Mount Union to two national titles, and former Alabama assistant Craig Kuligowski to coordinate the defense.

The weather is expected to be pretty good in Toledo, Ohio, with temperatures at 58 degrees, partly cloudy skies and an 11 MPH wind out of the northwest at kickoff, per Weather.com. The Rockets once again comes in a heavy betting favorite, with an 18-point spread and an over/under of 63, per OddsShark.
