In Pictures: Eastern Michigan defends home court, downs Kent State

Eastern Michigan dominates the second half to bring home another victory.

We don’t do enough shots of the basketball band.
Kenneth Bailey

I got home from work late and I was about to pass on the game. After finishing dinner, I figured seeing half a game was better than seeing no game, so my camera and I headed over to the game to watch the second half. I arrived in time to watch the half time show. The first event was a 5 second make the game winning shot contest. I don’t think anybody made it. The second event was Tic Tac Toe where they had to make a layup to place a piece. The “E” won. As I looked at the scoreboard, I saw that the Eagles were ahead by two points, so I thought I was going to be in for a close match.

It did not take long for me to see that was not going to be the case.

Eastern Michigan would outscore Kent State by nineteen points to win by a final score of 70-49. The Eagles top scorer would be Ypsilanti’s own, Ty Groce who scored 15 points. The Golden Flashes would be led by Danny Pippen with 15 points. Eastern Michigan’s Boubacar Toure and Kent State’s Antonio Williams would both foul out. And if my math is correct, this is Eastern Michigan’s fifth win in the last six games and they currently stand at 5 and 8 in the conference.

Eastern Michigan takes the trek down I-69 to face the Cardinals of Ball State on Saturday. Kent State will host the Buffalo Bulls on Friday.

Anyway, pictures....
