To say this year’s MAC tournament is a must-follow event is an understatement.
With the background of an empty arena due to COVID-19 fears hanging a cold palour over the proceedings, sixteen basketball teams descend upon Cleveland, Ohio, will try to push past the distractions to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
The men’s side of the bracket is as wide open as it has been in quite some time. There’s guaranteed to be a new champion after 12-seed Miami pulled off an unbelievable upset against two-time defending champion Buffalo. Akron is the #1 overall seed, but BGSU, Ball State and NIU have all shown sparks as the top seeds, and no team has less than four conference losses, making it one of the most volatile predictions in the country.
Central Michigan is the prohibitive favorite to win the women’s tournament, as a two-time defending champion. The Chips clinched the #1 overall seed with a week to go and finished three games above the #2 seed en route to clinching their fifth-straight MAC West regular season title.
It’ll be an electric environment on the court, even despite the circumstances, and we’ll be on-site for the tournament as it progresses throughout the weekend. Stay tuned to this page to catch our updates in real time!
