Mid-American Bandwagon, Ep. 9: One Mascot to rule them all, WhatIfTion, and the Group of 5 roundtable

Well guys, it’s a bittersweet day today.

It’s the Friday before Labor Day weekend, which in a normal year means the beginning of football season. Instead of getting down about the lack of fall MACtion, come along with us for another great episode of the MAC Bandwagon pod!

In this weeks’ first segment, Zach and Sam recap the epic final showdown in our MAC mascot bracket on Twitter. Victor E. Bull and Zippy the Roo battled in out until the final minutes, The Buffalo and Akron fan bases really showed out for this. We can’t thank you guys enough for all of the support and interaction on Twitter!

Next up, we break down the week 1 match up’s for our upcoming season simulation. There would have been some great games on the docket this weekend, including Buffalo vs. Kansas State, Miami vs. Pitt and Kent State vs. Penn State. Will any MAC squads pull off a hypothetical upset this week? The boys give their thoughts.

To close out the show, Zach and Sam are joined by folks from the College Sports Connection, Forgotten 5, and Mountain West Wire podcasts to discuss how their respective conferences have handled the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We discuss the possibilities of spring football, grade each conference handling of the situation thus far, and the likelihood of winter sports starting on time.
