It would have been a wire-to-wire win had Bowling Green not struck with a field goal about halfway into the first quarter, but the Eagles would take home a vital victory over the Falcons by a final score of 55-24 on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles would strike back early on the second quarter on a 31-yard pass from Ben Bryant to Bryson Cannon for a touchdown, his third of the season. The Falcons’ Terion Stewart would run for a five-yard touchdown to make it 10-7 in favor of the Falcons.

Eastern Michigan would get three more scores in the second quarter to blow the game open. One was Ben Bryant running in for a touchdown, while David Carter Jr. added another score by recovering a blocked punt to run it in for a touchdown, and Chad Ryland kicked a field goal as time expired in the half, making the score 24-10.

Eastern Michigan would open the third quarter with a 37-yard pass from Ben Bryant to Gunnar Oakes to make the game 31-10. Jaison Patterson of Bowling Green would punch it in to make it 31 to 17. Eastern Michigan would score four more times to make it 55-17. Bowling Green would get one more touchdown in the waning minutes of the final quarter to make the final score 55-24.

Eastern Michigan’s Ben Bryant would finish the game going 20-of-26 for 286 yards and two touchdowns. More importantly, he would throw no interceptions. His counterpart Matt McDonald would go 20-of-35 for 223 yards, with one interception. Samson Evans and Darius Boone would get about the same amount of rushing yardage for part of the Eagles’ 130 ground yards today. Bowling Green would also get 130 yards with Terion Stewart gaining 57 of those yards. Eastern Michigan’s Robert Daniel would get a fumble recovery. Bowling Green’s Patrick Day would get a fumble recovery of his own.

I thought this game would be much closer than it was but I’m glad to see that Eastern Michigan can pour it on when necessary. The Eagles travel to Toledo to face the Rockets on November 2nd. That game will be on ESPN2 at 7 or 7:30. The Falcons will play Buffalo on Saturday October 30th.
