Justin Turner and the Bowling Green Falcons aren’t done just yet!
The Falcons (14-11, 10-9 MAC) are one of eight teams that were selected to play in the 2021 College Basketball Invitational Tournament. The CBI is a single-elimination tournament that will take place between March 22nd and 24th in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Bowling Green will take on the Stetson Hatters from the ASUN Conference on March 22nd, with the game tipping off at 11:30 a.m. (EST).
This is the first time BGSU has played in the CBI. It is also their first postseason appearance since the 2014-15 season (when they made the second round of the CIT) and the 22nd time they’ve been invited to a postseason tournament in school history.
Justin Turner has been one of the best scorers in the MAC this season. The senior guard finished the regular season with an average of 19.3 points (tied for second best in the conference), 4.4 assists (fourth best in the MAC), 4.3 rebounds and shot 41.1% from the field and 87.8% from the free thrown line.
Stetson finished the regular season with a record of 11-14 (8-10 ASUN) but they began playing well towards the end of the year. After a 4-9 start to the season, the Hatters were able to right the ship and finish strong, going 7-5 over their last dozen games.
Guards Rob Perry and Chase Johnson lead the Hatters in points per game and are in a tight battle for the title of Stetson’s leading scorer. Perry drops 14.3 points while Johnson is netting 14.1 per game. Perry is shooting just under 40% from the field and 37.1% from behind the arc but also adds 4.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and a steal per game.
The winner of this game will go on to face either the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (16-7, 9-6 Sun Belt) or the Bryant Bulldogs (15-6, 10-5 NEC) the following night in the semi-finals.
