The Western Michigan Broncos played host to the Toledo Rockets on Sunday afternoon, with both teams taking home points after a 1-1 tie.
The match was scoreless until the 57th minute of the proceedings, when Suzuna Shibukawa bounced a low shot off a Rocket defender from the service of a Katie Schumacher corner kick to put the Broncos up 1-0.
The Rockets came back in the 76th minute, when Ellie Pool scored a screamer of a first career goal, converting a pass from outside the box into a high corner goal to even the score.
From there, both teams exchanged shots which ultimately didn’t hit target, resulting in a draw after regulation and two overtime periods.
The result moves WMU to a 2-1-2 mark, while the Rockets grab their first positive result of the season, moving to 0-4-1 after Pool’s late heroics to draw back points.
WMU will be back in action against Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti at 1 p.m. EST this Sunday, while Toledo travels to DeKalb to take on Northern Illinois at 5 p.m. EST for an evening game on Sunday.
