The Ohio Bobcats women’s basketball team had their season come to an end on Monday afternoon when they fell to the UMass Minutewomen, 95-71, in their NIT Consolation Game in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ohio went down early and was never able to close the gap. The Bobcats trailed by six after the first quarter and it didn’t get better from there. They found themselves in an eleven point hole at the half and then really struggled in the final quarter, as they were outscored by UMass 23-14 in the 10 minutes.

The Minutewomen out-shot (49.3% to Ohio’s 44.3%), out-rebounded (+9), out-assisted (+9), and had fewer turnovers (9 to Ohio’s 18) in the blowout win.

Cece Hooks and Erica Johnson led the Bobcats with 18 points each. Caitlyn Kroll was the only other Ohio player in double digits, as she dropped eleven. Madi Mace had a game-high 13 rebounds to go with her three points for the Bobcats.

Sam Breen led all scorers, as she finished the game with 27 points, nine rebounds, and had three steals. Fellow Minutewoman, Sydney Taylor was close behind, ending with 25 points and adding five rebounds and four assists.
