Another week is in the books, folks. Congrats, you made it! We’re happy to ring in the weekend with you with episode 47 of the podcast. There was a lot to discuss this week!

In the news this week, there have been a few transfer stories coming out of Buffalo. On the gridiron, safety Tyrone Hill entered the portal after totaling 31 tackles and 6 pass breakup’s last year for the Bulls. New head coach Maurice Linguist will certainly have his work cut out for him this fall, as Hill is now the 14th Bull to enter the portal. On the hardwood, sophomore guard Malik Zachery announced his transfer out of upstate New York, though he never actually played a game for the Bulls due to some legal troubles.

On the soccer pitch, the MAC announced Georgia Southern and Georgia State as new affiliate members for men’s soccer. Both programs will join the conference for the 2021-2022 season, and will increase the number of schools to eight. Best of luck to the Eagles and Panthers as they begin their MAC journey.

Lastly in the news, Toledo became the first MAC school to announce that they would have full capacity for football games in the fall, as well as the first school in Ohio to do so. We can only hope that this is the first sign that we’ll have a “normal” football season this year. It will be interesting to see if other MAC teams will follow suit. We know Rockets fans are excited to return to the Glass Bowl in September!

In this weeks’ spring sports recap, the boys touch on the end of the road for Kent State’s women’s golf team, who finished the season with a 17th place finish at last weeks’ NCAA Championships. Though they fell short of their ultimate goal of a title, the Flashes still had an incredible season, capturing their 22nd straight MAC title.

In softball, Miami also saw their season come to a close, as the Redhawks went 0-2 in their NCAA sub-regional. The Redhawks fought hard, but ultimately fell 3-2 to Notre Dame on Friday and 7-1 to Northwestern on Saturday. Miami still had a great year, setting a program record for wins and finishing with a final record of 46-11.

In baseball, we’re heading into the final week of the season. Two games separate first place Central Michigan and second place Ball State, and they are the only two teams who still have a shot to capture the conference title. Central takes on Toledo this week, while the Cardinals will take on Miami. Ball State has little room for error if they want to catch the Chippewas, and will likely need to sweep the Redhawks if they want to have a chance. We will see how this weekend plays out!

To close out the show this week, the boys take a look at the newly released 2021 college football win total predictions (courtesy of DraftKings). Zach and Sam run down the projected total for each team, and give their thoughts on which teams are too high and too low. We’re just about three months away from the start of the season, and the boys agree that it can’t get here soon enough!

As always, thanks for stopping by and spending some time with us this week, folks. Listen below, and follow along on Twitter @MAC_Bandwagon. Have a great Memorial Day weekend, everybody!
