Another week gone by, another week closer to football. Happy Friday folks! Camps around the conference opened this week, and we know everyone out there in MAC country is excited for a full football season after last years abbreviated slate.
In the news this week, Zach and Steve discuss Ohio’s Jason Preston being drafted 33rd overall in last weeks NBA Draft. Originally chosen by the Magic, Preston’s rights were traded to the LA Clippers. Preston will begin his professional career this weekend as a member of the Clippers Las Vegas Summer League team. Best of luck out west, Jason!
In the B block, the boys kick off their weekly previews by taking a look at the Central Michigan Chippewas. After a surprise MAC Championship Game appearance in 2019, the Chips look to bounce back after last years strange 3-3 finish. Zach and Steve discuss the quarterback situation, the deep running back room, and the veteran offensive line. On the defensive side of the ball, we ask: will CMU be able to stop anybody through the air? That could be the question that determines their season.
Moving our focus east to Athens, Zach and Steve take a look at the Ohio Bobcats. Obviously, the biggest storyline here is replacing the legendary Frank Solich on the sidelines. Longtime offensive coordinator Tim Albin takes the reins for the Bobcats, and he has a deep, talented roster to work with on offense. The boys discuss the strength of the running backs and the offensive line (sound familiar?) while also taking a look at what Ohio has to offer on the defensive side of the ball. After only playing three games last year, there are a lot of question marks surrounding this team.
As always, thanks for stopping by folks. Have a great weekend, and we’ll talk to you again next week!
