Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Kent State have not confirmed the reports as of publication.
Pitt and Kent State have met seven times, with the Panthers taking home victory in all seven matchups. The last meeting between the two programs was a procedural 43-3 triumph for the homestanding Panthers in 2003.
The reported agreement would firm up Pitt’s 2024 schedule, which also has scheduled games at home against rival West Virginia (Sept. 14) and FCS Youngstown State (Sept. 21) and a road contest with Cincinnati. The game is set for Aug. 30, and Pitt will reportedly pay Kent State $1.1 million.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Tennessee and Kent State, assuming it remains on the calendar. The game is set for Sept. 14, and Tennessee will pay reportedly Kent State $1.35 million. Tennessee is also slated to face future conference mate Oklahoma (Sept. 7) and UTEP (Nov. 23) in home contests.
Kent State’s 2024 schedule now has three road contests with the two additions, adding these two contests to a scheduled trip to Happy Valley on Sept. 21 to face Penn State. They still have one slot left to fill for the 2024 calendar, which will likely be a home contest.
