2023 MAC Football Championship Game TV/Streaming Primer: Toledo Rockets vs. Miami RedHawks

This is it: the big dance.

The MAC’s only two 10+ win teams are set to take the stage in the Motor City, as the MAC West champion Toledo Rockets (11-1, 8-0 MAC) are set to take on the MAC East champion Miami RedHawks (10-2, 7-1 MAC.)

Toledo is looking to become the first team since Northern Illinois (2011-2012) to win back-to-back MAC title games, and further state their case for a spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Rockets rank #23 in the Associated Press Top 25, but a win here and key losses by Tulane and Liberty could help advance Toledo into the coveted “best Group of Five team” role.

Miami, meanwhile, hopes to play the role of the spoiler. They’ve had a great regular season campaign of their own, persevering through an injury to entrenched starter Brett Gabbert (coincidentally vs. Toledo in their only league loss) to finish the MAC slate 4-0. Head coach Chuck Martin could become the seventh coach in league history to win multiple conference titles should his side win, becoming the first coach to do so since his counterpart Jason Candle (2017, 2022.)

This game promises to be a strength-on-strength battle which should be a nice cap to the 2023 conference campaign.
