Terry Bowden, and the Akron coaching staff didn't have to go very far to land their latest class of 2015 pledge. According to his Twitter page, Akron St. Vincent St. Mary standout running back Vince Lockett has verbally committed to play his college ball for his hometown Zips.
Throughout his career with the Irish, Lockett saw time at both running back and defensive back, where some have pegged him to play in college. This past season as a senior, the 5'11 190 pound Lockett rushed the ball 252 times for 1,423 yards, and 16 touchdowns to lead St.Vincent St.Mary to the Division III playoffs once again before getting bounced out by Ohio verbal commit Trae Williams, and Athens.
The Irish have been good to the Zips over the past couple of seasons. Fransohn Bickley, Newman Williams, and Nathan Bischof are three St.Vincent St.Mary graduates who are currently on the Akron roster.
