A little bit of history happened on Saturday morning over 3,700 miles from Akron. Former Akron Zip soccer standout DeAndre Yedlin made his Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur in a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa. Yedlin came on as a substitute in the 79th minute for defender Vlad Chiriches.

Yedlin didn't do much in his debut, but just getting onto the pitch at White Hart Lane was a huge step in his young career. He moved over to Tottenham in January, coming from the Seattle Sounders of the MLS where he was an every-match starter.
This obviously marks the first time a former MAC soccer player has ever played in the Premier League, widely regarded as the best soccer league in the country. That's quite a feat.
Yedlin's substitution came when Spurs were down 1-0, showing that manager Mauricio Pochettino entrusts him in a tight game. This bodes well for Yedlin over the next six matches.
