A week after a heartbreaking loss against the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Ball State Cardinals (1-1) return to Scheumann Stadium in Muncie, Indiana for a date with instate rival Indiana State (1-1). Indiana State is the second FCS opponent for the Cardinals this season, Ball State defeated Colgate 30-10 at Scheumann Stadium to open the season.
The Indiana State Sycamores, out of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, opened the season with a 28-10 road loss to the Indiana Hoosiers. Last week, ISU earned its first victory of the season, a 49-14 defeat of Tennessee Tech.
This will be the first time the Cardinals and Sycamores have played one another since 2003. The rivalry dates back to 1924. The winner of the game receives the "Victory Bell," first awarded in 1940. Ball State has won the last six meetings between the two schools. The Cardinals lead the all time series, 39-24-1.
