The Falcons received their 17th verbal commitment on Sunday night. Wide receiver Deric Phouthavong is the latest recruit to commit to BG.
Deric chose the Falcons over offers from Akron, Ball State, Buffalo, Miami, Ohio, and Western Michigan.
Up until this point, coach Babers has mostly targeted defensive players like Eddie Wilson, Rahn Bailey, and Matthew Finkler. Deric's commitment gives BG a playmaker who can grow alongside 4-star quarterback commit James Morgan.
Deric had an impressive senior year, making 1st team Division II All-Ohio.
At 6-foot-3, Phouthavong can develop into a solid red zone target for the Falcons. Deric is just the 5th offensive player to verbally commit to BG this year. Leading up until signing day, look for the Falcons to add some more playmakers like Deric to balance out the 2015 class.
