Eric Reed Joins Falcons Men's Soccer Staff

After spending the past two seasons at Davidson working with goalkeepers, Eric Reed has been chosen to join the BGSU coaching staff as an assistant.

Bowling Green's men's soccer coach Eric Nichols announced the addition of Eric Reed to the soccer coaching staff. Reed comes from Davidson College, where he worked with goalkeepers, and will be the replacement for Charlie Edwards, who was named head coach at Adrian College in December.

The Mission Viejo, Calif., native spent the past two seasons at Davidson but has been involved in soccer from a very early age. He attended UCLA, where he started 16 matches in each of his final three seasons. He also won All-PAC-10 First-Team honors and NSCAA/adidas All-Far West Third Team as a junior after leading the Bruins to a conference title in 2005.

After college the young goalkeeper took his talents to the University of San Francisco for the 2007 season working with both the men's and women's teams. He has also gained extensive experience in coaching various schools and clubs.

Reed has also played professionally, including stints at USL Second Division's Cleveland City Stars, where he assisted them in winning the USL2 title in 2008. He then joined the Carolina RailHawks for the duration of the 2009 and 2010 seasons before signing with the Charlotte Eagles.

He has played for the Eagles the past three seasons and was a finalist for the league's Goalkeeper-of-the-Year award for both the 2010 and '13 season. He also helped Charlotte reach the championship game in 2013.

The young goalkeeper was also a member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team and was selected by the California Victory in the 2007 USL First Division College Player Draft and was voted team MVP by the Victory fans in his inagural year.
