Bo Pelini Trades In His House Cat For a Bobcat

+

Today at Off Tackle Empire, I promoted the MAC to the B1G in some hypothetical college football relegation. This got Nebraska fans all nostalgic, and wishing for the good ole' days of Frank Solich. Someone proposed a hypothetical deal: Pelini for Solich. I accepted on one condition: Pelini trades in his housecat for a Bobcat. Well, it looks like we've got ourselves a new head coach, Bobcat Nation.

Lazy ESPN Writer Lists Miami As No. 1 On His bottom 10 From Last Week

2

Ryan McGee is the new owner of the title of "laziest ESPN writer" after he published his Bottom 10 posts this week. Why? Because he has Miami at No. 1, and even goes so far as to admit he literally just plugs in a MAC team. Clearly he didn't watch the Miami-Marshall game, or look into it past the final score. Miami, a team that went 0-12 last season, hung in with a team many have projected to go undefeated. Either Marshall sucks too, or McGee is lasy.

Three EMU Players Charged With Assault

+

Darius Scott, Jay Jones and Quincy Jones got themselves into trouble. I knew there was a good reason why there were three players wearing #1 and three wearing #8 on the official roster on Saturday's game against Morgan State.

Central Michigan WR Andrew Flory "Week-To-Week" For Potential Reinstatement

+

Coach Dan Enos updated wide receiver Andrew Flory's status as "week-to-week" when asked about his potential return to the lineup. Currently, Flory is back on the scout team after serving an indefinite suspension over the summer related to a drug-related arrest in the offseason. Coach Enos emphasized that Flory has been "very remorseful" and will continue to be scrutinized until he proves he can live up to the code of conduct.

Bowling Green QB Matt Johnson Out For Season

+

Bowling Green fans woke up to some unpleasant news this morning, and it does not look good for their championship chances. Matt Johnson, reportedly out with a hip injury, had a banner year last season at the helm of the Falcons, and looked to finally be getting a grip on the new offense towards the end of the game vs. Western Kentucky on Friday. Being out of the picture, it is a repeat of last year, where the backup quarterback will take over for the established starter. How fast can the new QB (James Knapke, Nolan Dieter, or Cody Calloway) pick up the Dino Babers offense will be the question yet to be answered as the Falcons next face the VMI Keydets.

Bowling Green's Houston Suspended for 2 Years

+

Former Bowling Green Falcon running back William Houston has been suspended by the university for two years after being indicted on rape charges stemming from a July 20 incident off campus. The action was announced after the school conducted its own investigation and held a student code of conduct hearing. The court proceedings are still ongoing. Houston had been suspended from the team and did not participate in fall camp. At media day in early-August, head coach Dino Babers said he could not comment on the situation only to say Houston was not with the team nor on campus. As a true freshman last year, Houston scored 11 touchdowns mostly in goal line situations. Listed at 262 pounds, Houston was expected to be the Falcons short yardage back again this year.

Buffalo Extends Bobby Hurley Through 2018-2019 Season

+

In some unexpected news Tuesday morning, the University at Buffalo announced it has extended head men's basketball coach Bobby Hurley through the 2018-2019 season.

Hurley just wrapped up his first season at Buffalo. The Bulls went 19-10, winning their first ever outright (no ties) MAC East title. They fell in the MAC Tournament Quarterfinals to EMU, and didn't participate in any post-season tournaments.

Before last season Hurley signed a 5-year deal that ran through the 2017-2018 seasons, to replace Reggie Witherspoon. The extra year added onto Hurley's contract is a nice reward for a coach who surprised many in his rookie season, and should give Bulls fans some extra comfort in knowing Hurley is likely at UB for at least a few more seasons.

Writing for MLive, Michael Niziolek defends the EMU football team's entrance, in which they smashed through a concrete wall, and calls out media that focused on it as "lazy".
