Ohio's Saul Phillips mentioned as potential replacement for Bo Ryan at Wisconsin


Wisconsin head basketball coach Bo Ryan announced his immediate retirement yesterday, and potential replacements are already starting to trickle out. Gary Parrish of CBS Sports published his list on Wednesday, and Ohio's Saul Phillips was mentioned as a potential successor. As Parrish notes, Phillips has ties to the program and Ryan and is a Wisconsin native. He is 16-23 as Ohio's head coach through one and a half seasons on the sideline.

Keith Wenning moved to Bengals active roster


In response to losing quarterback Andy Dalton, the Bengals move Ball State graduate Keith Wenning from the practice squad up to number two in the depth chart. Cincinnati's current starter is former Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron. To free up space on the main roster, the Bengals waived linebacker Chris Carter.

QB Reggie Bell not returning to EMU


Now former Eastern Michigan starting quarterback Reggie Bell announced on his Twitter account Tuesday evening that he will not return to the program next season. He played in four games this season after ending the 2014 season starting six out of the last seven games. The Sophomore threw for 11 touchdowns, 9 interceptions and 1,600 yards during his two years with the Eagles.

Missouri lawmakers introduce bill to cut off athletic scholarships


Weeks after the near-protest of a football game by the Mizzou football team, a bill will be considered on the floor of the Missouri Legislature to cut off athletic scholarships to students-athletes that refuse to play for any reason other than health. The details are scant at the moment, as legislators won't comment. Mizzou is a member of the MAC in wrestling.

Mike Minns arrested on drug charges, suspended indefinitely


In a shocking story coming out of Bowling Green, Mike Minns, a member of the BGSU football team, has been arrested today for "corruping another with drugs." The incident took place back in November, with the investigation centered around Minns potentially placing a drug into someone's drink. Minns has been suspended indefinitely.

Khalil Mack has hands and does everything


If you click on the link over to CBS Sports you'll see the Buffalo Bulls great nabbing a flag thrown at him from the back judge. Now those are some hands. Mack helped the Raiders overcome a horrible offensive game to beat the Broncos by mauling the Denver O-Line on Sunday with five sacks, ALL OF THEM in the second half.

UMass picks up commitment from DB Tedrick Lowery


Earlier this week UMass picked up a commitment from JUCO DB Tedrick Lowery

First reported by The Maroon Musket, Lowery will join the Minutemen from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. He will be enrolling early and will be on campus for spring football.

Given UMass' need for defensive backs Lowery's addition will be welcome and he should have a chance to compete for playing time right away.

Central Michigan to host "Star Wars Night" for basketball game vs. Texas Southern


Proving that you can never ever ever escape branding ever, the CMU men's basketball game against Texas Southern will be "Star Wars Night", where students will be encouraged to dress up in character. CM Life, the student publication, had photo ops with Stormtroopers, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader over the past week, but there is no word yet on who will make an appearance tomorrow. The game is 4:30 p.m. at McGuirk Arena.
