MAC seeking to remove all recruiting social media restrictions


In NCAA meetings that occured earlier this week, the conferences cleared the air about restrictions they want changed. According to Jon Solomon, the Mid-American Conference has asked for the NCAA to remove all restrictions regarding contacting recruits via social media, due to "the difficulty in monitoring the activity and the desire to keep pace with social media technology." If policy changes, it could be very interesting to se hwo the recruiting game is changed in that regard.

The Central Michigan Chippewas will be making their first ever football visit to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska, the university announced this morning.

Former NIU mascot Diesel passes away from cancer


It's a truly sad evening in DeKalb and everywhere else in MAC country as former NIU mascot Diesel has passed away after a bout with cancer. The Siberian husky was diagnosed with lymphoma in August and had been NIU's mascot for nine years before retiring in 2013. He was one of the best mascots in the country and would regularly be seen on the sideline giving cheerleaders high fives. #RIPDiesel

Smooth move


Yesterday, Mike Minns' cleat came off during the Tennessee game. Knowing he couldn't come off the field in time, he played dead to stop the clock and get his substitute in.

Akron to debut "Fear the Roo" helmets vs. Oklahoma


A couple months back, Akron released osme concept helmet designs and teased new potentials. One of them will be realized today, as the "Fear The Roo" helmet that features Angry Zippy looking over the player's shoulder, will take the field in the Zips' Week One matchup today vs. the Oklahoma Sooners.
