Paul Haynes and Kent State picked up a much needed defensive line commitment last week according to 247Sports. 3-Star defensive tackle Zach Singer verbally committed to the Golden Flashes last Wednesday according to the scouting service.

Singer is considered the 111th best defensive tackle in the 2014 class and the No. 11 recruit out of the state of Nevada according to 247Sports' composite ranking system. At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds Singer isn't a giant of a defensive tackle, but is a much more prototypical build than recent Kent State graduate and MAC Monster Roosevelt Nix who found success on the defensive lien despite being the size of a hobbit (compared to other college defensive linemen).

According to Rivals, Singer's only other offer came from Sacramento State, but also had interest from some Western schools, including UNLV.

This past season, Singer helped lead Las Vegas' Bishop Gorman High School to a 13-2 record, accounting for 37 total tackles this past season.

Singer's commitment comes two weeks before National Signing Day and gives the Golden Flashes 13 verbal commitments so far.
